Needed ASAP:
- Pay for the trip: If you haven't paid already, bring *a check only* (made out to Troop 209) on Saturday morning.
- Waiver: You MUST fill out the online Assumption of Risk form for each participant BEFORE Saturday: https://tinyurl.com/2025Rafting
- Allergies or medical conditions: let me know if you have allergies or medical conditions the rafting company should be aware of.
Departure:
We will meet at the Scout Hut at 5:30 AM Saturday for departure 5:45 *sharp*. We *MUST* be at the RVA Paddlesports office at 8:45 for the safety briefing, and there was construction and traffic that delayed us last year. Please actually be at the Scout Hut on time.
Use #everyone_open on Slack if there is a last minute issue. We will leave you if you're not there and haven't told us.
Rafting address:
1511 Brook Rd, Richmond VA
We will meet at the RVA Paddlesports office at 1511 Brook Rd before shuttling up to the put-in point about 4 miles upriver.
Please park along Brook Rd, or along any of the adjoining side streets (Sledd St., High St., or Fritz St.)
On Weekends Parking is across the street from our building at 1512 Brook Rd, where there will be a green sign marking the lot.
What to Expect:
Please note: the safety briefing starts as close as possible to the trip time. Anyone who is more than 15 minutes late may be left. Refunds will not be provided.
If you are traveling from DC or VA Beach area: allow 4 hours drive time. Traffic on 95 and 64 is very common and unpredictable. Expect delays.
From the meeting point, we will be driven up to the put-in for the rafting trip. Dry clothes, towels, and cell phones can stay in the car until after the trip. Your keys will remain safe with the bus driver while we are on the river. If you have any medications, bring those with you to give to your guide.
The guide will have a drybag where you can keep any personal or medical items for the trip. Guides will also have coolers in which to store your water bottle.
